FOUNDER & CLINICIAN
Mandy Walker is the founder and owner of The Walk Counseling, where she leads with a strong belief that meaningful work starts with meaningful relationships. Known for her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, Mandy has built The Walk with an emphasis on connection—both within the team and in the care provided to clients. She is passionate about creating a team environment where clinicians feel supported, valued, and free to practice authentically, and where genuine relationships are at the center of the work.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mandy has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults, particularly those who have felt stuck, unseen, or misunderstood—including individuals who may have been misdiagnosed or are navigating more acute or chronic challenges. She continues to work directly with clients and is known for her thoughtful, down-to-earth approach in the therapy room. Drawing from modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mandy tailors her work to each individual, always prioritizing authenticity, trust, and a deep respect for each client’s unique story.
Mandy is often described as a “therapist matchmaker,” a role she embraces as a core part of her work. She places a high value on helping each client find the right fit—believing that meaningful progress begins with the right connection. This philosophy is a driving force behind her development of a group practice, allowing The Walk to thoughtfully match clients with clinicians who best meet their needs.
In addition to her work at The Walk, Mandy is actively involved in the broader mental health community. She serves on the board of the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee, provides education and training for clinicians, and offers contract services with local universities and organizations. She is also an approved clinical supervisor in the state of Tennessee and enjoys supporting the growth and development of other professionals in the field.
A former college athlete, Mandy brings a strong appreciation for teamwork into every aspect of her work. She is often described as approachable and easy to trust, with a laid-back presence that is grounded by a deep sense of purpose and drive.
